Pete Vordenberg of The High Route team visited Romp’s Crested Butte factory and headquarters in July joining Jason Albert. Here's the backstory about his hands-on experience: Pete set out to build his dream ski while documenting the experience with his camera. His mission was to build a playful powder performer designed for backcountry travel. Following his ski consultation with Eligh, Pete opted for The Leif 120, a wide and surfy shape created for long, deep days in the backcountry.

The Leif, named after the Norse explorer Leif Erikson, is purely a custom build and is not included in the Romp-Ready collection of skis. The best description is to hear first-hand what the builders at Romp have to say about this model: “The Leifs are a series of backcountry-specific ski shapes. Each features a longer sidecut radius, a directional flex pattern, and is torsionally quite stiff, resulting in a dynamic and surfy platform that can be molded in a variety of ways to fit the skier. Along with their downhill performance, The Leif travels exceptionally well on long tours, rappels, boot packing or just touring up piste after work. This Leif series is geared towards exploration. The Leif comes in 94mm, 110mm and 120mm waist width options.”
