The Romp Skis team is a dynamic group of passionate individuals united by their love for skiing and the outdoors. Hailing from diverse backgrounds and regions, they bring a blend of expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm to their craft. Whether carving powder, hitting backcountry trails, or engaging in vibrant mountain life, the team’s shared dedication and camaraderie shine through in everything they do.

Morgan Weinberg

Meet Morgan, one of the founding fathers of Romp Skis, originally from Bath, New Hampshire. Morgan does everything from the business side of things to the construction of skis and has been with Romp for 12 years since day one. A man of many talents, Morgan studied Film Production at the Vancouver Film School in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Morgan learned to ski at a young age at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire, which is exactly what brought him to Crested Butte, Colorado- his love for skiing.

Favorite Romp ski?

“Parents shouldn’t choose favorites, but I’m skiing on Zorro 115 currently.”

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"Mountain Biking, Kayaking and Surfing."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why? 

“A polar bear, because cold doesn't bother them.”

Andy Shabo

Meet Andy Shabo (but we call him Shabo), Romp Skis' Ski Builder bringing all of the required parts together in our press to create a complete ski. Shabo can adjust the skis flex by adding different types of fiberglass and carbon stringers and can change the profile by changing tip and tail blocks in our ski press. Shabo is at the center of every ski that comes out of Romp Skis. 

Shabo has spent ten strong years with Romp making him our primary ski builder. Shabo is originally from Westwood, Massachusetts and learned how to ski at Blue Hills Ski Resort in Canton, Massachusetts. 

Favorite Romp ski?

Zorro 100 is my favorite but I’m Shepherd 99 curious.”

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"Mountain Bike, Dirt Bike, Snowboarding, Pow Surfing."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“Monkey, because you must obey your inner monkey.”

Eligh Purvis

Meet Eligh, Romp Skis Production Manager. Eligh primarily works on the production of parts before the ski goes into the press, including building cores, sidewall, and so forth and has been with Romp for six seasons. Eligh also helps with marketing and sales and helps customers create their dream custom ski. Eligh fell in love with skiing while he lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, then moved to Denver, Colorado, before moving out to Gunnison to get his bachelor's in Business Administration and Marketing degree at Western Colorado University. Eligh learned how to ski in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at a very young age of 4 and quickly transitioned into ski racing. After racing for eight years, Eligh transitioned to big mountain and backcountry skiing.\

Favorite Romp ski?

“My favorite ski that we make would be the Oso 105. It is a powerful and versatile ski that is perfect for Crested Butte. It is quick and playful but still powerful and bullet proof. Crested Butte is known for fantastic chalk skiing and the Oso 105 allows me to be confident that I will have fun and be ready for the conditions.”

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"Mountain biking, fly fishing and backpacking."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“My friends always call me a mountain goat”.

Sarah Steinwand

Meet Sarah, our Public Relations Director at Romp Skis, managing media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities. Sarah has been with Romp for four years and received a degree at the University of Colorado Boulder in Business Administration and Marketing. A Boulder, Colorado native, Sarah grew up skiing at Eldora Ski Resort and Winter Park Ski Resort at the young age of four, then later learned how to snowboard when she was thirteen.

Favorite Romp ski?

Leif 94, and strongly support Romp splitboard production!”

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"Snowboarding, splitboarding, mountain biking, hiking with my dog Woody."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“A dog living in the mountains because I could run free with friends through the wildflowers and powder.”

Jeff Moffett

Meet Jeff, Romp Skis’ Marketing Advisor. Jeff has been with Romp for a lucky seven years now, since 2015. Jeff received his Ph.D at the University of Washington in Seattle and is a lifelong skier from collegiate racing in New England to roaming the Pacific Northwest backcountry in search of the “secret bowl of paradise”. Originally from Rochester, New York, Jeff started skiing at about four years old on Stowe Mountain in Vermont. A man of many hats, Jeff is also the Marketing Director for the Crested Butte Music Festival and owns his own consulting company, Triple Point Strategic Consulting.

"Ice hockey, I started my skiing life in New England.😉"

Maliah Abeyta

Meet Maliah (muh-LEE-uh), Social Media Manager & Marketing Associate. Maliah has been with Romp for four years and does everything from social media content creation to branding and some graphic design. Maliah received her bachelor of arts degree from Western Colorado University in Business Administration and Marketing with a double minor in Communications and Business Law. Maliah grew up in Centennial, Colorado and began skiing around the age of three (maybe four) at Winter Park Resort and later learned to snowboard around fifteen at Loveland Ski Area.

Favorite Romp ski?

“I LOVE my Shepherd 110s and my custom Romp splitboard”.

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"Rafting, paddleboarding, fire spinning, aerial silks, and hiking."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“Some kind of bird because I’ve always wanted to be able to fly”.

Jordan Okes

Meet Jordan, our Ski Finisher and Tuner here at Romp Skis! Jordan takes care of the skis from the time they leave the press to the final wax. When the skis come out of the press, they are rough around the edges. Jordan first carefully removes the excess material from the skis. Then he refines and polishes the skis, adding base patterns and edge bevels to create the optimal ski performance and feel. After adding wax, the skis are ready to go out and Romp.

Jordan is from Denver, Colorado and is a certified EMT and volunteer firefighter for the town of Crested Butte. Jordan learned how to ski at about three years old and spent a lot of time skiing Breckenridge and Copper Mountain growing up. This past winter was Jordan's first season with Romp, so give him a warm welcome next time you're in the factory!

"I like the Zorro 100’s, great for everything at CB"

Favorite activities besides skiing?

"I love to go hiking and camping with my newly wed wife, Courtney and our dog, Theo, spending as much time on the snow as I can, and playing the drums and any other instruments I can get my hands on."

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

“I would probably be a moose because they’re awesome and just hang out in the woods all day.”
