Our Story

Caleb and Morgan Weinberg started Romp skis in 2010. They learned to ski in northern New Hampshire as young children. During the mid 1990’s they moved to Crested Butte in search of deeper snow and higher peaks. Inspired by the burgeoning online DIY ski building movement, the brothers put their woodworking skills to good use and crafted eight pairs of skis in Morgan’s garage in the winter of 2010. The first skis weren’t pretty, yet everyone who skied them wanted to have more of them.

The feedback they received gave them the motivation to rent factory space in Crested Butte and launched their own handcrafted ski company. The name Romp Skis captures the emotional, invigorating, and energized state that all skiers chase in the mountains. Since those early days, Romp Skis has grown to a larger production facility. This allowed the manufacturing process to be refined, ensuring the highest quality and longest lasting skis.

Today, Romp Skis builds tools for skiers who value handcrafted products, creative design, and an individualized ownership experience. Producing custom skis along with the new Romp Ready line, skis aimed to provide skiers with the tools to help them reach the Romp state. The intimate fitting process pairs skiers with the correct tools to transcend into a state of flow in the mountains.
