Anticipation builds as curtain time draws near and strains of guitar ring out against the din of the gathered crowd. A contemporary mixed media work celebrating the creators and lovers of country and western music, Soundcheck swirls with the movement of a buzzing audience. Each character is cut by hand from vintage, reclaimed materials swiped from roadsides and abandoned highway rest stops between Texas and Colorado. Hand-painted and arranged to evoke the controlled chaos of concert-going, each individual character offers the opportunity to imagine a story, a life one waiting to be returned to on the other side of this musical event.
